A Redwood City man was arrested last night (Dec. 8) after he allegedly fatally stabbed a woman he lived with, police said.
Juan Antonio Garcia, 57, called dispatch about 10:45 p.m. to tell them he had just stabbed the victim at their home in the 900 block of Seventh Avenue, according to a statement from Capt. Ashley Osborne.
Police found the 32-year-old woman unresponsive with multiple stab wounds in the home. Medics tried to revive the woman at the scene, but she died, Osborne said.
Police are not aware of any previous domestic violence or restraining orders between Garcia and the victim, according to Osborne.
Many people were at the home at the time of the stabbing so Menlo Park Police and Sheriff’s Office deputies helped at the scene.
Police found the murder weapon, a knife, and booked Garcia into jail on suspicion of first-degree murder according to online jail records and use of a dangerous weapon.
District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe says his office has seen ten murders this year and half of them were a result of domestic violence.
Garcia is set to appear in court tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. and is in custody on no bail status.
