A 16-year-old girl who was struck by a Caltrain in Palo Alto died by suicide, according to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.

The girl went to Gunn High School, Superintendent Don Austin said in a community update.

The coroner’s office said her ID hasn’t been confirmed by her family, so her name wasn’t available for release Friday.

The girl was hit just before noon on Tuesday (Feb. 20) at the E. Meadow Drive crossing.
Her death came less than 24 hours after a 27-year-old woman was hit and killed by three different cars while stopped on her bike on Embarcadero Road on Monday night.

Mayor Greer Stone put out a statement yesterday urging the community to come together and check on one another.

“My heart breaks for the families of those lost and our entire community as we mourn together,” he said.
