East Palo Alto Police this morning (July 5) arrested a 19-year-old accused in a fatal stabbing that occurred last night.

Arrested was Wilmer Vasquez Amador, 19, of East Palo Alto, according to Interim Police Chief Jeff Liu.

Vazquez Amador is accused of stabbing 33-year-old Abner Oswaldo Najeraxol, also an East Palo Alto resident on July 4 at 11:35 p.m. on the 400 block of East O’Keefe Street.

Police declined to say what motivated Vasquez Amador. The investigation continues.

Police were able to make a quick arrest in the case because witnesses came forward and talked to police, Liu said.

Vasquez Amador is in jail on no bail status and is set to appear in court tomorrow.

Najeraxol’s death is the third homicide this year in East Palo Alto. Ralph Fields Jr., 34 was killed in a shooting at Jack Farrell Park on May 17 and Inty “Manitas” Arellano Garcia, 15, died on June 13.
