Highlights from the agendas of local government meetings

MOUNTAIN VIEW CITY COUNCIL

6:30 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 3), 500 Castro St.

Drones: Council will decide whether to approve or reject a proposed policy that will allow city departments to use drones. Several Mountain View city departments want to use drones. The Public Works Department wants them to inspect city properties, the fire department wants them for monitoring and documenting fires and the police department wants them to collect evidence, among other uses.

 

MOUNTAIN VIEW WHISMAN SCHOOL DISTRICT

5:30 p.m., Thursday (Sept. 5), 1400 Montecito Ave.

School funds: The school board will look at an update to a multi-city agreement on tax allocation for education in light of the increased enrollment and revenue from the North Bayshore Precise Plan.

 

LOS ALTOS CITY COUNCIL
5 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 3), 1 North San Antonio Road

Appointments: The council will interview applicants for the Financial, Library and Public Arts Commissions.
Closed session: City attorney performance review.

 

LOS ALTOS PLANNING COMMISSION
7 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 5), 1 North San Antonio Road

5150 El Camino: The planning commission will hold a public hearing on Dutchints Development’s proposal for 196 apartments at 5150 El Camino Real.

 

CALTRAIN BOARD OF DIRECTORS
9 a.m., Thursday (Sept. 5), 1250 San Carlos Ave., San Carlos

Committee: The board will get an update on creating a citizens advisory committee representing Santa Clara and San Francisco counties.

Suicide: The board will pass a resolution recognizing September as Railroad Safety and Suicide Prevention month.

Riders: The board will receive a report on how many riders Caltrain has had in August.

 

ATHERTON CITY COUNCIL
4 p.m., Wednesday (Sept. 4), 150 Watkins Ave.

City attorney: The council will discuss the process for hiring a new firm to act as the town’s attorney since City Attorney Bill Conners is retiring at the end of the year.
Leaf blowers: The council will take a look at whether to ban gas-powered leaf blowers in town.

 

VTA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
5:30 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 5), 70 W. Hedding St., San Jose

Audit response: The Board will review the VTA’s response to the 2018-2019 Santa Clara County Civil Grand Jury Report.

 

EAST PALO ALTO CITY COUNCIL
6:30 p.m., Tuesday (Sept. 3), 2415 University Ave.

Elections office: The council will hear a report from Elections Specialist Supervisor Martin McTaggart on the county’s new voting machines.
Fees: The council may reduce the amount of fees to be paid for structures less than 499 square feet.
