Motorcyclist who died on La Honda road is identified

UPDATE, MONDAY, 1 P.M. — The motorcyclist killed on La Honda Road on Friday has been identified by the county coroner as Tyler Ross Carlberg, 27, of Santa Clara. According to Carlberg’s Facebook page, he studied electrical engineering at San Jose State University.

UPDATE, SATURDAY, 10 P.M. — The motorcyclist killed on La Honda Road on Friday has been identified by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office tonight as a 28-year-old from Santa Clara, but the victim’s name has not been released.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking any witnesses to call them at 1-800-547-2700.

FRIDAY, 6:30 P.M. — A motorcyclist died in a crash with a tow truck on La Honda Road (Highway 84) near Woodside on Friday (July 19), law enforcement officials said.

The crash was reported at 4:50 p.m. on Highway 84 about a half-mile west of Portola Road, according to San Mateo County sheriff’s Detective Rosemerry Blankswade.

A motorcyclist crashed into a tow truck there and suffered very severe injuries, Blankswade said. Sheriff’s officials later said on Twitter that the motorcyclist died.
