Get The Lobster You Want

New England Lobster

If you really love lobster, then New England Lobster Market & Eatery is the place for you. It’s the only place in the Bay Area where you can ask for any size lobster you want, and they’ll grab it out of the tank and cook it up fresh for you, right then and there.

Want a 3-pounder? Or even a five- or seven-pound crustacean? Whatever you want, up to 10 pounds, they’re sure to have just the lobster for you ready to go.

“Nobody else can do that,” said Danny Rosa, manager and director of marketing for the restaurant at 824 Cowan Road in Burlingame.

A premier supplier of Maine lobsters, Dungeness crab and shellfish locally since 1986, New England Lobster also serves up lobster platters, lobster rolls, lobster corn chowder and lobster tacos at their eatery. You’ll also find several salads, crab nachos, shrimp, fish and lobster tacos, and oysters and clams on the half shell among their offerings. Grab some seafood and a beer, or try a mason jar of their famous blueberry lemonade. And don’t forget the house-made whoopie pie for dessert!

The company does the biggest lobster wholesale and distribution business west of Boston — their facility holds up to 75,000 pounds of the crustaceans. And all of it comes fresh and stays that way until it’s on your plate — the lobster is never frozen, said Rosa. Live lobsters are delivered by air mail from New England daily, year-round, so freshness is assured.

Reminiscent of traditional New England lobster shacks, the eatery is casual and welcoming, with diners ordering at the counter and enjoying their meals at picnic tables. Eat inside or soak up some winter sunshine on their patio. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and features great specials. Just $7 can get you an order of lobster tacos or the crab cake sliders. A cup of lobster corn chowder is only $5 and lobster cocktail is $12. All wines and beers are $1 off.

If you like what’s on your plate at the restaurant, consider buying some lobster for later at home. In addition to its eatery, New England Lobster also runs a market where you can buy live and cooked lobsters, shellfish and assorted specialty items like lobster-infused olive oil.
