A man was arrested after he pinned an officer to the ground and took his Taser during a foot pursuit in Mountain View, police said.
Officers stopped Richard Gescat, 36, in the 500 block of Cypress Point Drive around 2:20 p.m. Monday (April 16) after noticing his front and back license plates did not match, according to police.
They were checking to see if the vehicle was stolen when Gescat got agitated and walked toward another vehicle nearby, according to police. Officers ordered him to sit down, but he ran away.
At some point during the foot chase, Gescat rolled backward on top of one of them, pinned the officer to the ground and took his Taser before running off again.
The second time they caught up with him, he knelt down, tossed the Taser aside and cooperated with the officers.
Gescat was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, disarming a police officer and committing a felony on bail. He was booked into jail and is currently being held on $86,000 bail.
