CHP motorcycle officer injured in 101 crash

A California Highway Patrol officer was taken to a hospital with major injuries this morning (March 11) after he was involved in a collision on Highway 101 in San Mateo, according to a CHP spokesman.

At 10:20 a.m., the motorcycle officer was involved in a collision with a gray 2018 Volkswagen Golf on southbound Highway 101 south of Third Avenue, according to CHP spokesman Officer Kurt Waldschmitt. The officer’s injuries are considered major but not life-threatening, Waldschmitt said.

The Volkswagen’s driver, who was the only occupant of the car, remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
