One of Stanford’s assistant directors of undergraduate admissions seems to have left her job after an underground student publication posted screenshots of her personal Instagram photos, including profanity and risque captions.

Stanford spokeswoman Lisa Lapin declined to say whether Karen Alonzo had left the university.

However, the admissions website shows that she’s been removed from a list of admissions officers and that her applicant territories, Pennsylvania and parts of Florida, have been reassigned to another admissions officer.

‘Unfriendly minority hotties’

The anonymously written student publication the Fountain Hopper posted nine images from Alonzo’s public profile on Jan. 9 that included profane language and captions such as “I like my (ice cream emoji) cones #black … like my men” and “Unfriendly minority hotties,” an apparent reference to the 2004 Mark Waters film “Mean Girls.”

Social media manager

Alonzo’s LinkedIn profile said that she worked on the department’s marketing and outreach team, where she managed the department’s social media accounts, including the Instagram account @EngageStanford.

The @EngageStanford account was apparently used to like all nine of her personal posts that the Fountain Hopper published. FoHo noted that she changed her username from @kaylonz to @kgotklout and made her account private after a student posted about her Instagram profile on the Facebook group Stanford Memes for Edgy Trees.

Alonzo, a 2011 Stanford alumna, had worked as an admissions counselor at Stanford since 2014. She was promoted to the assistant director position about two years later. Before that, she worked as a marketing manager at Google.

Attempts to reach Alonzo for comment were unsuccessful.
