Mountain View Police are looking for a man who hit a jogger and made a “racially charged statement” while he was on Stevens Creek Trail.

On Wednesday (July 7) at 9:20 a.m., the man was on the trail over Evelyn Avenue when a stranger came up from behind and slapped him in the back of his head, according to police.

The stranger then got in front of the jogger, held out his fist and threatened to punch him. He then made a “racially charged statement” at the man, who is Asian, and swung his bike at the man, police said. The bike tire hit the man, causing minor injuries.

The jogger described his assailant as a black man in his 40s, about 5-feet-4 inches tall wearing a red jacket and a hood. He had a black mountain bike.
