Alleged drunken driver crashes into pole, knocking out power

A driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing into a utility pole in Belmont this morning (July 10), causing a small grass fire and a local power outage.

Belmont Police Department said the fire was quickly extinguished. Police said the power outage extended northwest from the scene at El Camino Real and Davey Glen.

According to PG&E’s website, an outage along El Camino Real affected 50 to 500 customers, and has since been repaired. No injuries were reported. — Bay City News
