Town alerts residents about a prowler on a bike

Atherton police are asking residents to keep an eye out for a suspected prowler riding a dark-colored bicycle with a red baby carrier.

Today (June 30) at 3:40 p.m., a resident saw a man trying to steal a bicycle from in front of the man’s garage on Encinal Avenue. The man ran away and was spotted hopping onto a different bike and rode away on Laurel Avenue toward Menlo Park.

The description the man gave police fits with the description someone else gave the police of a prowler who was spotted trespassing in a yard on Greenoaks Drive on Sunday at 5:40 p.m.

The man is described as a Latino in his late teens about 5-feet-8-inches tall. During the incident today he was wearing a black baseball cap, a black face mask with white piping, a black t-shirt with a red design, dark jeans and had a black backpack.
