Burglar takes safe, security video from pizzeria

A burglar stole a safe from Papa John’s at 3898 El Camino Real in Palo Alto and made off with the restaurant’s security footage.

Sgt. Craig Lee said the burglar entered the pizza place though a back window on April 26.

The burglar took $20 from a cash drawer, carted off a safe containing unknown amount of money and a videotape that held the store’s security footage, Lee said.

Lee said the store owner is trying to figure out if the footage was uploaded to the cloud. Lee didn’t know how much the DVR was worth but said the suspect could have taken it to cover tracks.
