Mary Jo Milks

July 21, 1920 – April 20, 2020

Mary Jo Milks passed away peacefully on the morning of April 20, 2020.

Mary Jo was born in Springfield, NE, on July 21, 1920. In 1939, a year after graduating from high school, she, her mother, and her sister moved to Santa Cruz, CA, to care for an elderly relative.

She graduated from Santa Cruz Business School then went to work for the Quartermaster Department at Fort Ord, where she remained until WWII ended. Returning to Santa Cruz, she went to work for Penniman Title Company until 1956, when she moved to Mountain View, CA. She worked for Title Insurance & Trust Company in Los Altos until her retirement in 1982. Mary Jo spent her retirement years happily volunteering at the Mountain View Library, the Mountain View-Whisman School District Office, and “Pinkies” at El Camino Hospital Auxiliary. She moved to Oak Manor Retirement home in Jackson, CA, in 2017.

Mary Jo loved to travel, read, and do counted cross-stitch. She walked every day she was able, which was just about every day. Mary Jo loved a good joke and was well known for passing them along to friends and family. She was also known among her family for being a prankster and kept them on their toes. Having never married and with no children, Mary Jo is survived by a myriad of admiring nieces and nephews.

In light of current shelter-in-place orders, memorial service place and date are to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, Mary Jo requested that donations please be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation (Wish.org).
