A fire damaged a home in Los Altos but was extinguished without serious injuries to firefighters or residents, according to the Santa Clara County Fire Department.

Firefighters responded at about 9:15 p.m. to reports of a house fire at 311 Hawthorne Ave. and arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the home.
