10:30 p.m. — Palo Alto Utilities says a goose flew into a power line and caused tonight’s outage. Power should be restored shortly for most customers. However, for about 300 customers in the Midtown area, along Ross Road between Colorado and Loma Verde avenues, the estimate is 2 a.m. We’re told the goose did not survive.

8:55 p.m. — The Palo Alto Utilities Division reports that 3,300 of its customers have lost electric power this evening. The area hardest hit by the outage is bounded by Bayshore Road, Colorado Avenue, Louis Road and Greer Road. Utilities says crews are en route now to troubleshoot and make repairs.
