An East Palo Alto man who robbed the San Mateo Credit Union in the Ravenswood Shopping Center has been arrested two months after the robbery, a prosecutor said.

Cedric Mark Williams, 57, was found Friday (Sept. 1) while riding his bike in East Palo Alto, said San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.

An officer recognized Williams from the security camera footage of the July 21 robbery, where Williams slipped a note to the teller just before 5 p.m., demanding $100s, $50s and $20s, Wagstaffe said. Williams made off with $640 during the robbery, the DA said.

Wagstaffe said Williams could face life in prison if convicted because of the state’s three strikes law. His previous convictions were in 1996 and 2000, the DA said.

Williams is in jail on $600,000 bail and will be in court on Sept. 12.
